With the vibrant tech ecosystem, Ireland has a great potential for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to empower citizens, businesses and government services. Agentic AI, as the next frontier, is promising for autonomous systems, demonstrating unprecedented capabilities, such as proactive behaviours, environmental adaptation, and human-AI interactions.
The “AI for Ireland” Quest is designed as a comprehensive innovation challenge that combines ideation, education and implementation to accelerate the development and adoption of Agentic AI for Ireland. This initiative builds upon the success of the previous UCC AI Quest while introducing a unique focus on autonomous AI systems that truly transform citizens’ daily life, business operations and government services.
The competition has two parts:
Part 1: Idea Submission and Evaluation
Part 2: hackathon
Participants are invited to submit ideas/implementations, outlining innovative applications of agentic AI to address specific Irish challenges together with a clear implementation plan, including data, framework, roadmap and broader impacts. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of AI experts and through public voting with the #AIforIreland hashtag, ensuring both technical novelty and public relevance being considered.
Participants are invited to attend a one-day hackathon session at UCC (or multiple locations across Ireland). It is designed to assist participants in implementing agentic AI with readily available toolkits to transform ideas into working prototypes. The competition emphasizes real-world solutions, addressing challenges in Ireland, aligned with Irish values. We expect diverse ideas, ranging from healthcare, agriculture and finance to digital government services and climate action initiatives.
